Hello, I’m Sally, and thank you for taking the time to visit Opal & Ivy.
If you’ve found your way here, there’s a good chance you have a jewellery box tucked away somewhere, filled with pieces that haven’t been worn in years.
Perhaps they belonged to someone special, perhaps they’ve simply fallen out of fashion, or perhaps you’ve just reached the point where it’s time for them to begin a new chapter.
“…Whatever brought you here, I’m so glad you stopped by.”
People often assume Opal & Ivy is simply a business that buys unwanted costume jewellery. While that’s certainly part of what I do, the truth is that it’s so much more than that.
If you’d asked me twenty years ago what success looked like, I’d probably have given you a very different answer. Like many people, I thought it was about working hard, earning more and building a comfortable life.
But over the last decade, something quietly changed.
These days, I don’t dream about expensive things or a fast-paced lifestyle. Instead, I dream about waking up to birdsong, walking through fields with my dogs and knowing that a few more animals are safe because of something I’ve built.
I imagine a peaceful sanctuary where donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, geese and other animals can simply live out their lives surrounded by kindness. Not a visitor attraction. Not a commercial venture. Just a safe place for animals that have nowhere else to go.
I know it’s a big dream.
I also know dreams like that aren’t built overnight.
“…They’re built one small step at a time.”
Around the same time my priorities began to change, I started noticing something else. Perfectly good jewellery was being forgotten in drawers, packed into boxes in lofts or, even worse, thrown away altogether.
I couldn’t help thinking that unwanted jewellery and unwanted animals have something in common.
“Neither has lost its worth.”
They’ve simply lost someone to appreciate them.
That thought stayed with me for a long time, and eventually it became the foundation for Opal & Ivy.
Today, I specialise in buying unwanted costume jewellery and giving it a second chance. Some pieces are carefully cleaned and rehomed exactly as they are. Others become part of my handmade jewellery collections, while some inspire entirely new creations.
Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing something that was once forgotten become loved again.
“…Along the way, something wonderful happened.”
With love, Sally
Many of the people I meet tell me they aren’t interested in getting every last penny for their jewellery. Instead, they simply want to know it will be appreciated and that it will continue its journey with someone who genuinely cares.
That’s why I created the Opal & Ivy Sanctuary Collection.
If you’d like your jewellery to become part of the Sanctuary Collection, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every donated piece helps reduce waste, supports my small business and brings me one step closer to creating the sanctuary I’ve dreamed about for so many years.
Whether your jewellery is sold, restored, repurposed or rehomed, it becomes part of something much bigger than a simple transaction.
It becomes part of a dream that’s quietly growing, one collection at a time.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Thank you for supporting a small independent business.
And most of all, thank you for helping prove that forgotten things, whether they’re pieces of jewellery or animals looking for a safe home, always deserve a second chance.
I hope one day I’ll be able to welcome you to that sanctuary and show you exactly what your kindness helped create.
